Reincarnation Chair

The chair’s sharp extended legs assist in
placing it in the soil.
One back leg is extended to form the stake and
measurement lines are marked on its side in
order to document and celebrate the growth of
the tree in a similar way to the measuring of
a growing child on the doorframe.

A step was put between the back legs in order
to push the chair into the ground with your foot.
After the chair has been placed, the step which
touches the ground will slowly rot, and the
chair would give its life to the tree, decaying
as the tree flourishes.
Eventually the chair will decompose into the
ground and the full grown tree could be cut up
in order to make a new chair and repeat the
cycle, recreating the experience.

Reincarnation Chair

This chair is designed to encourage the user
to bond with their plantations and spend more
time outdoors.

The chair performs as a stake, supporting the
tree while providing a place for you to sit
comfortably while following its development,
talk or sing to it and encourage it to grow.
My aim was to develop a mutual relationship
between the garden and the garden seat,
the chair supports the tree in its growth and
in return the fully grown tree would shade and protect the seat.
